Hamburg

We’re a group of around 20 members that consists of Bachelor, Master and PhD students, as well as food scientists in their practical course. We are always available for questions regarding the education of food science and we’re here to support the students with information about aspects of the professional path after the state examination.
Therefore we annually organize excursions in regional firms and factories, in order to gather insights into the industry and production as well as to establish future relationships with companies and potential employers. In addition you could benefit from the seminar for scientific writing, where we give valuable tips about composing your thesis and working with reference management software. To learn more about the career opportunities as a food scientist after the first state examination, we invite you to our information event: “Studies- then what?”, where former students talk about their current job in this field. Furthermore we are currently planning on a coaching workshop for training and developing skills, for example on how to properly prepare for a job interview. Another particular highlight of our working group is a special beer tasting event that also shows the chemical aspects of the beer brewing process. We’re also part of many more interesting events not only in Hamburg that we organize together with local partners for example the Regional Association North (Regionalverband Nord).
